WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team got a late-game grand slam from
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) on the way to win game one, as LHU split a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader on the road at West Chester University today.
Lock Haven (9-15, 5-5 PSAC) split the day against West Chester University (27-11, 11-5 PSAC) after winning game one, 4-2 thanks to Stuppy's grand slam in the seventh inning.
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) went the distance in the win, striking out three through seven innings.
West Chester won game two, 6-5 in extra innings.
Game 1 Recap: W, 4-2 Mouillesseaux recorded three strikeouts and surrendered one walk in the win.
Stuppy blasted a grand slam to left-center field in the seventh inning to give LHU a, 6-5 lead.
Lock Haven allowed a lone hit in the final inning and sealed the win.
Game 2 Recap: L, 6-5 After trailing for the first five innings, Lock Haven scored three runs in the sixth inning to tie the Golden Rams, 5-5.
In the bottom of the ninth inning West Chester scored the final to run to win, 6-5 in extra innings.
Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) and
Katie Diehl (East Berlin, Pa./Dover) both homered in game two. It was Diehl's first collegiate home run.
Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Mouillesseaux split time in the pitcher's circle.
Probst (4 IP, 7 H, 2 BB, & 1 K) and Mouillesseaux (4.1 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, & 4 K) held the Golden Rams to six runs in the loss.
Lock Haven returns to action Monday (April 12) when the Lady Eagles host East Stroudsburg University at 2:30 p.m.
