BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team dropped both games of a PSAC East doubleheader today at local-rival Bloomsburg.

Lock Haven (10-20, 6-10 PSAC East) dropped an 11-inning game one, 5-4 and Bloomsburg (16-8, 11-3 PSAC East) completed the sweep with a 5-4 game-two victory.

Lock Haven and Bloomsburg needed much more than the scheduled seven innings in game one to settle their differences, as the game went extra innings.

LHU jumped on the Huskies early, scoring in each of the first three innings.

Lock Haven made it 2-0 in the first after
Michelle Holweger (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) and
Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) recorded back-to-back extra-base RBI hits. Holweger doubled and drove in
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) to make it 1-0 and in LHU's very next at bat, Smith tripled, driving in another run for the 2-0 lead.

The Bald Eagles tacked on a run in the second and third, jumping out to a 4-0 lead.

Bloomsburg scored once in the bottom half of the third, but Lock Haven held onto the lead until the Huskies tied the game with a three-run bottom half of the fifth.

Finally in the bottom of the 11
th, Bloomsburg plated the winning-run on a Sarah Bortner RBI-single.
Â
Each team had nine hits apiece in game one.

Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) was 2-for-3 at the plate and
Kelsey Harris (Williamsport, Pa./Seton Hill Univ.) was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) got the start in the pitcher's circle and went 4 2/3 innings. She struck out eight before giving way to Probst, who three the final 5 2/3 innings. Probst allowed three hits and struck out two.

Bloomsburg rallied again in game two and plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh for the come-from-behind victory.

LHU led 4-3 after 6 ½ innings.

Lock Haven's four runs came off nine hits, including two from
Sarah Schwalm (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Garlock. Smith was 2-for-4 with a run a scored and two RBIs.

Probst and Mouillesseaux combined for seven strikeouts in the circle.

Today's second game marked Lock Haven's 10
th game in the last five days.

LHU returns to the field on Friday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m. when The Haven travels north to take on Mansfield.
