MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team saw the offense explode in game two today on the way to an 8-0 (6 innings) victory, which helped The Haven earn an important PSAC East road-split at rival Mansfield University today.

LHU (11-21, 7-11 PSAC East) dropped a nine-inning thriller, 3-2 in game one to Mansfield (8-18-1. 3-15 PSAC East), but the Bald Eagles responded in a big way to on the way to an 8-0 (6 innings) game-two victory. In game two,

Lock Haven erupted for eight runs on 15 hits.

Mansfield tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh and eventually won game one in the ninth.

Despite the loss, LHU recorded 10 hits, including three from
Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton).

Smith was 3-for-5 with a home run and a triple.

Sarah Schwalm (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin),
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) and
Michelle Holweger (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) all had two-hit games.

Pitcher
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) struck out 11 over 8 2/3 innings.

LHU responded in a big way in game two and recorded eight runs on 15 hits. Smith was at it again and hit her team-best seventh home run of the season in the top of the first inning.

Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) picked up the win throwing a two-hit shutout. She struck out five.
