LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team split a PSAC East doubleheader today with visiting Shippensburg University. LHU won game one, 4-0 before dropping game two, 9-1 (5 innings).
Lock Haven (12-22, 8-12 PSAC East) pitcher
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) was the story in game one, as she threw a one-hitter.
Shippensburg's (12-17, 7-15 PSAC East) offense carried the Red Raiders to a 9-1 (5 innings) victory in game two.
Game 1 Recap: W, 4-0 Mouillesseaux was the key for The Haven in game one. She struck out seven and walked only two over seven innings of work. She carried the no-hitter through 6 2/3 innings.
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) and
Kelsey Harris (Williamsport, Pa./Seton Hill Univ.) both went 2-for-3 at the plate in the win.
Michelle Holweger (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) drove in a pair of runs.
Game 2 Recap: L, 9-1 (5 innings) In game two, Shippensburg scored nine runs on nine hits over five innings as Ship escaped Lawrence Field with a split.
Garlock had two of Lock Haven's four hits and
Jodi Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) drove in The Haven's run.
Lock Haven hosts Mansfield University tomorrow (Sunday, April 19) at 1 p.m.
