SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse capped off an impressive undefeated regular season today with a, 15-3 win over Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
With the win, LHU claims the 2015 PSAC regular season title and the first undefeated season since 1973. Lock Haven has now won 26 consecutive regular season games.
This season mark's the fourth straight PSAC regular season title for LHU.
After five scoreless minutes,
Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) put Lock Haven (16-0, 12-0 PSAC) on the board, 1-0 before Slippery Rock (9-8, 7-5 PSAC) responded with a goal to tie, 1-1 in the ninth minute of play.
Rachel Ward (Indianapolis, Pa./Bishop Chatard) and
Alex O'Herrick (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) netted a pair of goals to give LHU an early, 4-1 lead.
Senior
Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) recorded a sensational game netting the next six straight goals to lead SRU, 9-1.
Lock Haven allowed only two goals in the second half to seal a solid, 15-3 victory.
Pandolf finished the day with a game-high eight goals, eight draw controls, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers.
Ward recorded a hat trick and Hamilton added a pair of goals.
Defensively, Lock Haven caused 10 turnovers and recorded 14-for-15 successful clears.
Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) recorded nine saves in the win.
Lydia Heishman led SRU with a goal and one groundball.
