LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) net a hat trick as the No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse team powered past third-ranked Lindenwood University in non-conference action today, 8-5 on Charlotte E. Smith Field.
Lindenwood came into the contest averaging 17 goals per game and 33 shots per game. Lock Haven entered today's game averaging 13 goals per game and 28 shots per game.
The Lady Eagles held the Lady Lions to just five goals, Lindenwood's lowest offensive output all season.
Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) put the Lady Eagles on the board first at 9:47 in the first half off a free position shot.
Lock Haven surged forward, netting the next three goals, to lead Lindenwood, 4-0 with 10 minutes to play in the first half.
Lindenwood responded with a pair of goals to trail, 5-2 at the break.
The Lady Eagles went toe-to-toe with Lindenwood for the second half, as neither could gain momentum.
Lock Haven defense was solid, holding the Lady Lions to just five goals and 16 shots.
LHU fought hard to seal an, 8-5 victory.
Hamilton finished the day with a hat trick and one draw control.
Pandolf and
Jill Murray (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) each added a pair of goals in the win. Pandolf led all-scorers with five draw controls.
Defensively, Lock Haven was almost perfect clearing the ball, recording 15-for-16 successful attempts.
Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) earned her eighth win of the season, recording four crucial saves.
Sophie Buelow led the Lady Lions with a hat trick and two ground balls.
Today's win marked the 21
st consecutive wins for LHU.
Lock Haven returns to action Wednesday (April 8) when the Lady Eagles travel to Mercyhurst in conference play (4 p.m.).
