LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (3-3) picked up a pair of wins today as the Bald Eagles hosted the first of two days of the Angelina Miele Memorial Tournament.
Lock Haven beat Wayne State and Salem International to move back to .500 on the season with a 3-3 record.
LHU opened the day with a 3-0 win Wayne State. Lock Haven won 25-21, 27-25 and 25-22. The Bald Eagles took down Salem International 3-0 (25-19, 25-16 & 5-17) in their second match of the day.
Leading the way for LHU vs. Wayne State was
Brittany Moyer (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain), who hit .333 with nine kills. She added 10 digs.
Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll) and
Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) each added seven kills. Flick had nine digs.
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) dished out 21 assists and
Sydney Belcastro (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) tallied 27 digs.
Lock Haven got off to a hot start vs. Salem International, recording 17 kills and hitting .552 in the first set to pave the way for the victory.
Gomish was the big hitter for the Bald Eagles and finished with 11 kills (.423 hitting percentage).
Flick added seven kills.
Brown dished out 21 assists and LHU's 33 digs came from 10 different players.
LHU takes on LIU Post (11:30 a.m.) and Shepherd (7 p.m.) tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 12).
