LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (6-0) remained perfect on the season as the Bald Eagles won their sixth straight game, dominating host Siena (1-4) on the way to a 2-0 win.
The 6-0 start is the best start for LHU since 2004 and the shutout marks Lock Haven's third in six games. In its six games this season, LHU has allowed just three goals thanks to one of the nation's premier defensive units.
Rachel Valentine (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) and
Lydia George (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) scored first half goals to lead Lock Haven to the win.
Valentine scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in 23
rd minute off a pass from George and George put Lock Haven up 2-0 in the 31
st minute off a breakaway attempt.
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) made two saves in the winning effort.
Lock Haven's defensive unit put together another strong 70 minutes of play, allowing just six shots.
Lock Haven returns home to host Richmond on Friday, September 18 at 3 p.m. The game marks the Bald Eagles Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) opener.
