MANSFIELD, Pa. – Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) scored a team-high 15 points and the Bald Eagles got 29 points off the bench as the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (8-12, 5-11 PSAC) dropped local-rival Mansfield University, 64-62 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East thriller.
With the win LHU snapped a four-game losing skid and completed the season-series sweep of its local-rival in Mansfield (4-14, 2-13 PSAC).
Mealing grabbed seven rebounds to go along with her team-high 15 points.
Emily James (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) made the most of her homecoming and dropped 11 points. She was 3 of 4 from 3-point range.
Mackenzie Livingston (Blairsville, Pa./IUP) and
Rachael McDaniel (Plainfield, N.J./California (Pa.) Univ.) both scored eight points, and
Madison McHale (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) added seven.
Livingston also had nine rebounds and two assists.
LHU out-rebounded Mansfield 49-26.
Mansfield tied the game at 62-62 with 10 second left in regulation.
With only two seconds remaining – Livingston went to the free-throw line, where left no doubt – sinking both shots, giving LHU the 64-62 lead.
The two made foul shots put the game away and as Mansfield tried to set something up Livingston sealed the win with a steal as time expired.
LHU returns to action on Wednesday, February 3 on the road at Kutztown University (5:30 p.m.).
