LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (6-10, 5-10 PSAC) scored three goals in route to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory vs. Shippensburg (10-7, 8-7 PSAC), by a score of 3-1.
Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield),
Hayleigh Swam (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and
Gabby Kishbaugh (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) all scored for Lock Haven on the way to the huge home victory.
After a scoreless first half, Lock Haven and Shippensburg combined for four second-half goals.
Foltz broke up a scoreless tie in the 51
st minute when she sent a hard shot into the upper corner and gave Lock Haven the 1-0 lead.
Less than eight minutes later, Swam made it 2-0 when she collected a loose ball inside the box and buried it behind the Shippensburg goalkeeper.
Shippensburg got on the board in the 71
st minute on a goal by Ashley Weaver. LHU led 2-1 with less than 20 minutes to play.
A Kishbaugh goal in the 78
th minute gave Lock Haven some insurance and helped ice the victory.
Kishbaugh added one assist in the win, as did
Sarah Bonelli (Apollo, Pa./Apollo-Ridge).
Jordan Shoff (York, Pa./York Suburban) led a strong defensive effort for the Bald Eagles and
Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) stood strong in goal for The Haven.
LHU will wrap up the 2016 season Saturday, October 29 at home (
Hubert Jack Stadium). The Haven's Senior Day Match is set for a 5 p.m. start.
