McGill-Jefferson, Mealing power Bald Eagles to win

The LHU women’s basketball team uses strong second half to defeat UPJ on the road by a score of 59-49.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (4-4, 2-3 PSAC) defeated Pitt-Johnstown (6-4, 2-3 PSAC) as Ayanda McGill-Jefferson (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) and Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa.Altoona) each recorded a double-double in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action winning, 59-49.
 
The Bald Eagles took the lead with 5:45 left in the fourth and never looked back as LHU came from behind using a 21-4 fourth quarter to defeat the Mountain Cats.
 
McGill-Jefferson finished with a game high 21 points along with securing 11 rebounds. She also recorded three steals and three blocks in her tremendous effort.
 
Mealing was once again a rebounding machine as she brought down a staggering 20 rebounds which is one of the best marks in school history. She also chipped in with 11 points.
 
Madison McHale (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) also led the charge by scoring 10 of her 16 points in the second half.
 
LHU will return to the court on December 18 when they travel to take on Georgian Court (1 p.m.).
