MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Lock Haven University softball team opened the 2016 season today at the Snowbird Freeze Out Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Bald Eagles dropped their opener to New Haven, 5-0 and were edged by Molloy, 5-4.

McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) and
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) as each went 2 for 2 at the plate.
Mouillesseaux also went the distance in the circle and struck out six over seven innings. She allowed just one earned run.
New Haven scored five runs on 12 hits.
Game 2, Molloy Recap: L, 5-4 Lock Haven was edged 5-4 by Molloy in a thriller that saw the Bald Eagles rally, thanks to an offensive spark from freshman
Jessica Strouse (Beech Creek, Pa./Central Mountain). Trailing, 5-1 in the seventh inning, the local-product drilled a three-run home run to make it 5-4.

Today marked the first two games of six at the Snowbird Freeze Out Tournament. Tomorrow (Saturday, February 20), LHU is scheduled to play Wilmington (Del.) at 10 a.m. and Felician at 12 p.m. The Bald Eagles round out the weekend with games vs. Merrimack and Le Moyne on Sunday, February 21 at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
