LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team improved to 17-7 overall and ran its win streak to nine games with a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Slippery Rock (9-10). Lock Haven won game one, 4-3 in eight innings and took game two, 5-2.
 
In game one, Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) doubled to the left-centerfield wall in the bottom of the eighth inning, which drove in the winning run.
 
A first-inning solo home run from Jodi Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) sparked a two-running for LHU, who led 2-0 early.
 
Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) tied the game after sprinting home to score on a wild pitch.
 
Stuppy led the way at the plate in game one and was 2 for 4. Four other Bald Eagles in the top half of the lineup registered a hit.
 
Bekah Slattery (Douglassville,Pa./Daniel Boone) moved to 9-3 in the pitcher's circle with an eight-inning effort. She struck out four.
 
Lock Haven broke open the 5-2 game-two victory, thanks to a three-run sixth inning.
 
Stuppy once again powered the offense and went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Jessica Strouse (Beech Creek, Pa./Central Mountain) went 2 for 4.
 
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) picked up the game-two victory. She struck out three.
 
Lock Haven returns to action Friday, March 25 when the Bald Eagles travel to Indiana (Pa.) University to open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central play. LHU will host Mansfield in PSAC Central action on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m.
