Softball splits PSAC Central opener at IUP

Game 1 comeback leads to 8-6 Lock Haven victory, but IUP edges Bald Eagles in Game 2, 2-1.

INDIANA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (18-8, 1-1 PSAC Central) and IUP (11-7, 1-1 PSAC Central) renewed their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central rivalry today with a split.

It marked the PSAC Central opener for both teams and Lock Haven rallied to win game one, 8-6, before host-IUP took game two, 2-1.

In game one, Lock Haven trailed IUP 6-5 heading into the seventh inning, but the Bald Eagles responded in a big way.

Reining PSAC Central Player of the Week Paige Stuppy's (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) RBI-single tied the game at 6-6 and Jessica Strouse (Beech Creek, Pa./Central Mountain) drove in a pair of runs give LHU the 8-6 lead. The three-run top half of the seventh was the difference and led Lock Haven to the comeback win.
