LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the second day in a row the Lock Haven University baseball team (13-8, 5-3 PSAC East) and Shippensburg University (11-15, 3-5 PSAC East) split a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East doubleheader.
Jacob Belinda (Port Matilda, Pa./Tyrone) pitched a two-hit gem in game one and his 10 strikeouts led Lock Haven to a 3-1 victory.
Shippensburg scored three runs on 10 hits in game two and won 3-1.
In the game one, Belinda went the distance in a sensational effort. He allowed just one walk and Ship's only run was an unearned one.
Matt Lahn (Georgetown, ONT./Erie C.C.),
Justin Sleigh (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) and
Nick Stotler (Pittsburgh/Coker College) all went 2 for 3 at the plate for LHU.
Lahn broke the game open in the third when he doubled to right-center, and drove in all three Lock Haven runs.
Shippensburg pitcher Gabe Mosser was solid in game two and the Bald Eagles were only able to pick up three hits.
Highlighting the game for Lock Haven was
Sam Kysor's (Port Allegany, Pa./USC Upstate) inside-the-park home run in the third. It tied the game at 1-1.
Yesterday (Friday, March 25), LHU and Ship split the opening two games of the series at Shippensburg.
The Bald Eagles will return to the diamond Wednesday, March 30 at 1 p.m. when they travel to Seton Hill.
