LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University softball team (24-10, 7-3 PSAC Central) won a 10-inning thriller in game one and split an important Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central doubleheader with rival Indiana (Pa.) University (19-13, 6-6 PSAC Central).
Lock Haven took game one 2-1 in 10 innings, but IUP responded with a 9-2 game-two victory.
In game one, Lock Haven was led by
Bekah Slattery (Douglasville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and
Faith Ceely (Troy, Pa./Troy).
Slattery struck out 11 in another dominating pitching performance and Ceely's RBI-single up the middle in the bottom of the 10
th gave the Bald Eagles the thrilling walk-off win.
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Endicott) tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI-single.
Michelle Holweger (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was 2 for 4 at the plate in game one.
In game two, IUP scored nine runs on eight hits.
Slattery was an offensive bright spot as she drilled a home run to right-center in the fourth inning.
Lock Haven returns to action on Tuesday, April 12 as the Bald Eagles and rival Bloomsburg will make up their crucial PSAC Central doubleheader at Bloomsburg (2:30/4:30 p.m.). The DH was originally scheduled for Friday, but postponed because of weather.
