BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Lock Haven University softball team (24-12, 7-5 PSAC Central) dropped both games of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central doubleheader at rival Bloomsburg University (29-4, 10-0 PSAC Central).
The Huskies won game one, 3-0 and took game two, 7-5 despite a strong Bald Eagle rally.
In game one, Bloomsburg scored three runs on seven hits.
Pitcher
Bekah Slattery (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) allowed three runs (2 ER) on seven hits. She struck out eight.
The Bald Eagles managed five hits, three of which came off the bat of
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott), who was 3 for 3.
Despite five runs on eight hits, two home runs, four doubles and a three-run sixth inning rally, LHU fell to Bloomsburg, 7-5 in game two.
Both
Jessica Strouse (Beech Creek, Pa./Central Mountain) and Mouillesseaux homered, and
Jodi Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two runs scored.
Strouse led off the game with a home run and was 2 for 4 at the plate.
Trailing 5-1 at in the bottom of the sixth, LHU plated three runs, but the Huskies answered, and hung on for the victory.
Today's PSAC Central doubleheader marked the first of eight games on the road. LHU travels to Pitt-Johnstown on Friday, April 15 for a conference twinbill (2:30/4:30 p.m.).
