LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The No. 12 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (10-2, 6-2 PSAC) returned to the win column by picking up its 10
th win of the season with a hard-fought victory over visiting Slippery Rock (7-5, 3-4 PSAC), 11-10 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
The Bald Eagles dominated the opening 30 minutes of play and led 7-2 at halftime, but Slippery Rock charged in the second half and made a game of it with eight second-half goals.
Haven goalkeeper
Hannah Houde (Jackson, N.J./Slippery Rock Univ.) made the biggest play of the game with just two seconds left, when she turned away Kaytlin Callaghan's shot.
Houde finished with six saves – all of them as important as the next – and led LHU to victory.
Leading the way offensively for LHU was
Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers) who finished with three goals, one groundball and one caused turnover on the day.
Alex O'Herrick (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) had an outstanding all-around game, finishing with 10 draw controls, four groundballs, and a caused turnover.
The Haven was led by three different players who dished out two goals each.
Dana Laulis (Garnet Valley, Pa./ Garnet Valley) had two goals and one assist in the win.
Hope Thomas (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) also had two goals on the day and a game-high of six shots on goal as well as two draw controls.
Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) netted two goals and also dished out five assists.
On the defensive end, as a unit LHU had six caused turnovers in the win.
Lock Haven hosts Bloomsburg in PSAC action on Tuesday, April 12 at 4 p.m.
