JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University softball team (26-12, 9-5 PSAC Central) got a pair of dominating pitching performances in each game and the Bald Eagle offense combined for 16 runs on 26 hits in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central doubleheader sweep of host Pitt-Johnstown (8-19, 5-9 PSAC Central).
The Bald Eagles won game one 9-0 (6 innings) and took game two, 7-1.
Bekah Slattery (Douglasville, Pa./Daniel Boone) threw a two-hitter in game one in another dominating pitching performance.
The Bald Eagles scored their nine runs on 13 hits, including three home runs.
Michelle Holweger (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn),
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) and
Gabrielle Henson (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) all homered.
Mouillesseuax had a pair of hits, while
Jodi Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Moriah Lindsey (Woolrich, Pa./Central Mountain) was 2 for 3 at the plate.
In game two, Lock Haven scored seven runs on 13 hits and the Bald Eagles were powered by two more home runs. Holweger and
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) both homered.
Garlock was 3 for 4 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored. Holweger went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Mouillesseaux and
Becca Caputo (Williamsport, Pa./Jersey Shore) both had a pair of hits.
Mouillesseuax struck out three in her two-hit gem.
Lock Haven returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, April 16) at Mansfield University (1/3 p.m.) in PSAC Central action.
