Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball wins game two, earns split with #14 East Stroudsburg

Haven drops game one 4-0, takes game two 3-1

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.  – The Lock Haven University baseball team (17-20, 6-12 PSAC East) split a doubleheader with No. 14 East Stroudsburg University (28-10, 11-7 PSAC East) on the road in conference action.

LHU dropped game one 4-0, but The Haven responded to win game two 3-1.

The game two win was Lock Haven's first over a nationally-ranked opponent since the Bald Eagles defeated No. 23 Mercyhurst 3-1 on April 7, 2012.

Game 1 Recap: L, 4-0

LHU was unable to get to ESU's ace, Matt Festa in game one.

Festa improved his record to 9-0 on the year with the complete game win.

Sam Kysor (Port Allegany, Pa./USC Upstate), Hunter Szaflarski (Greencastle, Pa./Hagerstown Community College), Nick Stotler (Pittsburgh/Coker College) and Matt Lahn (Georgetown, Ont./Erie Community College) each tallied one hit a piece in the loss.

Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) started on the mound for LHU and went the distance.  He allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out four in the loss.

Game 2 Recap: W, 3-1

Lock Haven battled back and took game two 3-1.

Mike Anthony (Audubon, Pa./North Hampton Community College) was outstanding on the mound for The Haven.

He threw a complete game, allowing just one run on four hits and struck out five.  With the win Anthony is now 5-2 on the year.

LHU got the bats going early in game two with back-to-back RBI singles by Stotler and Ethan Moore (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock).

Leading 2-1 in the seventh, the Bald Eagles picked up an insurance run when Jimmy Webb (Williamsport, Pa./Wake Forest) crushed his second homerun of the year, putting The Haven ahead 3-1.

The two-run cushion was more than enough for Anthony, who closed out ESU in the seventh for the win.

Stotler led LHU with two hits in the game, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Lock Haven and East Stroudsburg are right back in action tomorrow when the two teams meet at Foundation Field for the final two games of their weekend series.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
