LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The No. 13 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (12-2, 8-2 PSAC) jumped on visiting Gannon University (6-9, 3-7 PSAC) early and never looked back on the way to a dominating 17-5 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win.
The Bald Eagles led 13-0 halftime and stretched that to a 17-0 lead before Gannon finally got the board with less than 14 minutes to play in the game.
The win on Senior Day extended Lock Haven's win streak to three games and marked LHU's 12
th win of the season, as its improved to 12-2 overall with a huge regional contest set for tomorrow.
Seven different players scored for LHU including
Hope Thomas (Carmel, Ind./Carmel), who had five goals.
Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers) and
Alex O'Herrick (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) netted hat tricks, while
Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) and
Emily Brunie (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) each scored twice.
Bissnette added four assists and
Hayley Kilian (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley Park) dished out six helpers.
Kelly Close (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) led Lock Haven's defensive unit that allowed just 13 shots and registered three caused turnovers. Close had two caused turnovers.
Three different LHU goalies combined for seven saves.
LHU is right back in action tomorrow (Sunday, April 17) when the Bald Eagles host No. 11 Limestone at 2 p.m.
