Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#13 LHU soars past #11 Limestone in 17-8 upset-win

No. 13 Lock Haven puts together dominating 60 minutes, rips past No. 11 Limestone in huge regional matchup.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The No. 13 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (13-2) put together a complete 60 minutes and dominated No. 11 Limestone College (11-3) on the way to a 17-8 victory.

The win was Lock Haven's 13th (13-2) and extended the Bald Eagles win streak to four games. It marked LHU's first win over Limestone since 2010 and snapped a three-game losing streak to the Saints.

Limestone took a 1-0 lead less than seven minutes (23:11) into the contest on a goal by Taylor Cline, but it was all Lock Haven from there, as the Bald Eagles scored six goals in the next 5:39 and led 6-1 with 16:13 left in the first half.

Lock Haven led 8-2 at halftime.

Leading the Bald Eagles potent attack today was Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers), who had six goals. Karli Gilbert (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown) came off the bench and netted a hat trick.

A huge story in the game was Lock Haven's dominance in draw controls. LHU won 22 of 26 draws, thanks in large part to Alex O'Herrick (Barto, Pa./Boyertown), who had 14.

O'Herrick and Emily Brunie (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) each scored twice.

Hayley Kilian (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley Park) and Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) combined for nine assists, recording five and four, respectively.

Hannah Houde (Jackson, N.J./Slippery Rock Univ.) was strong in goal when called upon and made five saves.

Leah Peppelman (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), Kelly Close (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) and Sarah Houde (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) led the Bald Eagles shutdown-defensive unit.

Jenna Dingler (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) chipped in with a goal, an assist, two caused turnovers, two draws and two ground balls.

Today's game marked Lock Haven's final home game of the regular season. LHU capped the season with a perfect 8-0 home mark, stretching the Bald Eagles unbeaten streak on Charlotte Smith Field to 29 games. The Haven has won 36 straight home regular-season games.

Lock Haven heads to Millersville on Wednesday, April 20 with a 4 p.m. conference game.
