LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University baseball team (18-26, 6-18 PSAC East) dropped a pair of games to West Chester University (27-10, 17-7 PSAC East) today in PSAC East action at Foundation Field.
LHU fell in game one 5-2 and The Haven dropped game two 7-1.
In game one, Lock Haven struck first in the when
Sam Kysor (Port Allegany, Pa./USC Upstate) delivered a RBI --single in the fourth inning that drove home the game's first run.
West Chester responded in the fifth, however when Anthony Salamone hit a two-run homer to left.
West Chester would add three more runs in the sixth inning to extend its lead to 5-1.
The Bald Eagles attempted a late rally in their final at-bat, and The Haven brought the go-ahead run to the plate with the bases loaded, but LHU was unable to complete the comeback.
Hunter Szaflarski (Greencastle, Pa./Hagerstown Community College) led LHU at the plate going 2-4 with a double.
Matt Lahn (Georgetown, ONT./Erie Community College) was 1-4 with a double and a run scored.
Lock Haven dropped game two 7-1.
West Chester jumped out to an early lead, scoring one run in each of the first two innings and Lock Haven was never able to recover.
Lahn and
Nick Stotler (Pittsburgh/Coker College) had four of LHU's five hits in the game, as each went 2-3.
Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) started on the mound and struck out five in the loss.
The Bald Eagles will travel to Clarion University for a Wednesday (April 27) non-conference doubleheader (1/3 p.m.).
