LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University baseball team (18-28) dropped both games of a tightly-contested non-conference doubleheader today (Wednesday, April 27) at Clarion University (9-29).
Clarion won game one, 2-1 and the Golden Eagles rallied in game two and slipped by Lock Haven 10-7.
In game one, LHU recorded three hits including a
Nick Stotler (Pittsburgh/Coker College) RBI-double in the third, which tied the game at 1-1.
Clarion scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run in the fifth.
Stotler had two of Lock Haven's three game-one hits. He was 2 for 2 with a RBI.
In game two, Clarion scored 10 runs on 13 hits. The Golden Eagles scored seven runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally by Lock Haven.
LHU led 7-3 going in to the seventh and the Bald Eagles scored their seven runs on 12 hits.
Sam Kysor (Port Allegany, Pa./USC Upstate) was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a RBI, while
Hunter Szaflarski (Greencastle, Pa./Hagerstown C.C.) went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Daulton Brenize (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) went 2 for 4 at the plate and
Giovanni Torres (Harrisburg, Pa./Harford C.C.) was 2 for 3 with two runs scored.
The Bald Eagles are set to close the regular season with a four-game series with Mansfield this weekend. The two teams open the series on Friday, April 29 at Mansfield (1/3 p.m.) and are set for two in Lock Haven on Saturday (1/3 p.m.).
