LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (3-0) got three goals from three different players and
Alyscia Smith (Newport, Pa./Newport) dished out two assists as the Bald Eagles rolled to a dominating 3-0 victory over Siena College (1-2).
The non-conference win helped LHU remain perfect and move to 3-0 on the season. It marked the Bald Eagles second shutout in three games and through three contests, Lock Haven is outscoring its opponents 19-1 this season.
Megan Wenrich (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin),
Michele Enck (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) and
Tamia Roach (Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Joseph's Covent Port-of-Spain) all scored for the Bald Eagles.
LHU led 2-0 halftime thanks to goals from Wenrich (3') and Enck (31').
Roach put the game away with a goal in the 49
th minute.
Goalkeeper
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) made four saves in the shutout. She was aided by a tremendous defensive effort in front of her that allowed just six shots on cage.
Lock Haven will be right back in action tomorrow (Sunday, September 11) at noon when the Bald Eagles travel to local-rival Penn State. The Nittany Lions are currently ranked fifth in the nation, but LHU won last year's meeting 1-0 for The Haven's first win over Penn State in 30 years. Tomorrow marks the 44
th all-time meeting between the two central, Pennsylvania Division I field hockey powers.
