Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey downed at No. 5 Penn State

The LHU field hockey team dropped its first game of the 2016 season, falling to No. 5 Penn State today in non-conference action.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the first time in the 2016 season, the Lock Haven University field hockey team (3-1) lost a game as No. 5 Penn State University (5-0) snapped the Bald Eagles three-match win streak with a 4-1 victory.

LHU got a sensational effort from goalkeeper Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and a goal from Dana-Lee De Gannes (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago/Maraval), but it wasn't enough to upset the Nittany Lions today.

Penn State led 1-0 at halftime and scored three second-half goals on the way to the win.

Stuppy was brilliant in the cage and finished with 11 saves.

De Gannes scored in the 57th minute for Lock Haven.

The Bald Eagles will host La Salle next Friday, September 16 at 3 p.m. to open their 2016 Atlantic 10 (A-10) slate.
