Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Foltz scores twice in win over Bloomsburg

Freshman Marah Foltz scored twice to lead the LHU women’s soccer team past visiting Bloomsburg University, 3-1.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (2-3, 1-3 PSAC) picked up its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Bloomsburg University (2-2-1, 2-2-1 PSAC) thanks to a two-goal match from freshman Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield).

Hayleigh Swam (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) also scored for the Bald Eagles.

Jordan Shoff (York, Pa./York Suburban) turned in a sensational 90-minutes of soccer in leading a strong defensive unit for Lock Haven.

LHU goalkeeper Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) finished with three saves and two of the three were tremendous efforts. Hilty made a diving stop at the end of the first half and one late in the match to help lead the Bald Eagles to victory.

Foltz put Lock Haven up 1-0 just 9:56 into the match when she collected a pass from Maddy Novak (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and sent the ball far post.

In the 35th minute, Foltz was at it again and beat two Bloomsburg defenders, before chipping the goalkeeper. Her second tally of the game gave LHU a 2-0 lead.

Shortly before halftime, Bloomsburg got on the scoresheet and made it 2-1 with a 40th minute strike.

Leading 2-1, Swam put the game away in the 62nd minute when she volleyed home a Erika Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) crossing-pass.

LHU returns to action Saturday, September 17 at 5 p.m. on the road at Gannon University.
