LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Troy Amspacher (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) scored twice including the game-winner in double-overtime as the Lock Haven University men's soccer team (4-1-1, 2-0 PSAC) outlasted host Gannon University (3-2-1, 1-1-1 PSAC) and won 2-1 (OT).
Amspacher scored in the 18
th minute to make it 1-0 and he netted the game-winner in double-overtime (104').
The win was the second straight for the Bald Eagles and extended Lock Haven's unbeaten streak to four matches. Lock Haven is 3-0-1 over the last four games.
The two-goal effort help Amspacher keep pace with his torrid scoring streak and as he ran his goal-scoring total to nine goals through six contests.
Troy Teresak (Pompton Plains, N.J./DePaul Catholic) made four solid saves in another winning-effort.
Amspacher put Lock Haven up 1-0 in the 18
th minute when he ripped a shot into the upper left corner from 30 yards out.
LHU led 1-0 at halftime on the Amspacher goal, but Gannon tied the match early in the second half as Hamza Mourchild scored in the 51
st minute.
The two teams remained tied after 90 minutes and headed to OT.
Early in the second-overtime period Amspacher took over the match as he's come accustom to doing. It was another dazzling effort too as he connected from distance after chipping the goalkeeper from 30 yards out for the win.
It was an all-around effort for LHU head coach
Patrick Long and his squad as the Bald Eagles picked up the huge three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) points on the road. LHU is now 2-0 in PSAC play and the six points have them sitting among the top four teams in the standings.
The Bald Eagles will return to home to host Shippensburg University on Wednesday, September 21 at 4 p.m.
