LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (3-3) lost to visiting Cornell (4-2), 4-0 today in non-conference action.
Cornell led 1-0 at halftime on a seventh minute Katie Carlson goal and the Big Red scored three second-half goals on the way to the win.
Tamia Roach (Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Joseph's Convent Port-of-Spain) did all she could to spark LHU's attack and finished with three shots.
Despite the loss, defender
Tabatha Almond (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) played well at her outside back position and midfielders
Lydia George (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) and
Megan Wenrich (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) both turned in solid outings for the Bald Eagles.
LHU returns to action next weekend with a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference matches in Virginia. Lock Haven will open the weekend on Friday (September 23) at VCU (4 p.m.), before traveling to Richmond on Sunday, September 25 (12 p.m.).
