CHEYNEY, Pa. – Madison McHale (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) knocked down six 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 22 points, but it wasn't enough to spark the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (6-8 overall, 3-7 PSAC) past host Cheyney University (2-8, 2-8 PSAC) as the Bald Eagles fell, 75-65.
McHale made six of LHU's nine 3-pointers on the night.
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) netted 14 points and pulled down 18 rebounds. For Mealing, 14 of her 18 rebounds came on the defensive side as she once again played strong two-way basketball.
Ayanda McGill-Jefferson (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Lock Haven and Cheyney were tied 32-32 at halftime, but the Wolves used some strong shooting of their own in the second half to pull away. Both Quinniea Gross and TaKayla Ellis each scored 18 points apiece for Cheyney.
The Bald Eagles will close out a busy week on Saturday (Jan. 14) at home vs. Shippensburg University (2 p.m.). After that, LHU heads to local-rival Mansfield University next Wednesday, January 18 for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
