ERIE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (4-8-0, 3-8-0 PSAC) dropped a very close road match against Mercyhurst (4-6-2, 3-6-2 PSAC) 1-0 in overtime.
The Bald Eagles and the Lakers played a scoreless first 90 minutes with both teams playing tremendous defense and doing everything they could to keep the other team out of the attacking third of the field.
Once the overtime period hit, Mercyhurst was able to make just one more play than the Haven and capitalized on a scoring chance in the 97
th minute to seal the win.
The Bald Eagles used a balanced offensive attack against the Lakers, receiving five shots on goal from five different players.
Jordan Shoff (York, Pa./York Suburban) and
Carly Spinuzza (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) led Lock Haven with two shots each.
Goalkeeper
Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) was great in goal for the Haven, recording five saves and leading the Bald Eagle defense as they held Mercyhurst scoreless for 96 minutes.
The Bald Eagles will return home for their next game as they take on the Golden Rams of West Chester on Sunday, October 15. The game is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 pm.
