LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (4-9-0, 3-9-0 PSAC) dropped a hard fought match to West Chester (10-2-1, 10-2-0 PSAC) 2-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game action at Stern Athletic complex.
West Chester was able to strike first early in the game with a goal in the 12
th minute. The Haven was able to respond in the 32
nd minute when
Erika Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) put a great looking corner kick into the box where
Ella Jones (Mohnton, Pa./Reading Area CC) was able to collect the ball and put it far post to beat the keeper.
West Chester was able to add the go-ahead goal in the 63
rd minute when Taylor Jamison was able to bank a shot off the post and sneak it behind goalkeeper
Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain).
The Bald Eagles then had a few chances down the stretch, but couldn't quite capitalize as West Chester was able to make a few timely defensive plays to keep LHU at bay.
Jordan Shoff (York, Pa./York Suburban) played a great game for the Lock Haven defense, consistently breaking up scoring opportunities for the Golden Rams and leading a valiant all-around effort from the Bald Eagles.
Hilty finished the game with four saves in net for LHU.
The Haven will remain at Stern Athletic Complex as they are set to take on Indiana (Pa.) on Wednesday, October 18. The game is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 pm.
