LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (6-6-3, 3-5-1 PSAC) fell in a classic Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) battle to No. 13 West Chester (10-2-1, 8-0-0 PSAC), 2-1.
The scoring came early and often before both defenses locked in.
The Haven would strike first when
Alec Mapoy (Brick, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) sent in a long pass that found
Reggie Holt (Pittsburgh/Pen Hills) and he beat one defender before firing it into the back of the net.
The Golden Rams would answer less than 20 seconds later after converting on a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1 in the 15
th minute.
West Chester scored one more goal to take the 2-1 lead going into the second half.
Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown H.S.) would have a great chance in the 69
th minute to tie the game but his header bounced off the cross bar and the post before the keeper could save it.
Both defenses held their own in the second half as the Bald Eagles defended against seven corners from West Chester and
Troy Teresak (Pompton Plains, N.J./DePaul Catholic) did not have to make a save.
LHU will return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 21 when they hit the road to take on Gannon at 6:00 p.m.
