Bald Eagles soar past Salem International, 5-1

The LHU women’s soccer team used an all-around team effort to defeat Salem International 5-1.

SALEM, WV. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (4-7-0) soared in non-conference action to defeat Salem International (3-9-0), 5-1.

The Haven scored early and often as they lead the Tigers 3-1 at halftime. LHU would then net two more goals in the second half to wrap up the scoring.

The offense was firing on all cylinders as nine different players fired 17 shots on target. Gabby Kishbaugh (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) led the charge with six of her own. While Erika Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run), Haleigh Swam (Westminster, MD./Winters Mill) and Janelle Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) all chipped in with two apiece.

Kishbaugh started the scoring early as she beat the keeper in the second minute and also found the back of the net in the 78th minute.

Haley Predix (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) followed Kishbaugh's early goal with one of her own in the seventh minute. Swam capped the early scoring for the Bald Eagles as she scored in the 13th minute to give LHU the early 3-0 lead.

Salem International would get on the scoreboard in the 15th minute after capitalizing on a corner kick.

Early in the second half Emily Vitale (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) scored a tremendous goal to give The Haven a 4-1 lead.

Lock Haven goalkeeper Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) was once again dominant as she only allowed one goal and saved four shots.

The victory snaps LHU's three game skid and the Bald Eagles will head to Mercyhurst for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) clash on Friday, October 13 with kick off at 4 p.m.
