Women’s Basketball rallies late, soars to 2OT win

Rileigh Devine registered the LHU women’s basketball team’s first 30 point game in over four years and the Bald Eagles rallied to a huge double overtime victory over Millersville, 77-70.

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (8-14, 5-13 PSAC) defeated Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) foe Millersville University (9-15, 7-12 PSAC) in a thrilling double overtime victory, 77-70.
 
Trailing by two points going into halftime the Bald Eagles trailed Millersville 29-27. LHU's offense needed a second half spark and true freshman Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) was up to the task. Devine finished with 30 points, going 10-14 from the field including two of five from deep, all in the second half.
 
With just one second to play in the first overtime Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) hit a jump shot to tie the game at 63-63. Mealing notched her seventh straight double-double in the victory, finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Becca Reilly (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Kayla Henderson (Philadelphia/Lackawanna College) both finished the game in double-digits with 11 and 13 points, respectfully.
 
Madison McHale (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) finished the game with nine points going two of five from three and a perfect three for three from the free-throw-line.
 
LHU was 20 of 48 from the field in regulation, shooting 10 of 24 in both the first and second half. However, in overtime the Bald Eagles were five of eight from the field and 10 of 15 from the free-throw-line.
 
The Haven's huge victory today over Millersville could have major playoff implications for the Bald Eagles.
 
Lock Haven will return to the court on Wednesday, February 15 at 5:30 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host Cheyney.
