LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Katie McDonough (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) led a sensational defensive effort and a strong second half surge on offense helped the No. 13 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (4-1, 1-0 PSAC) open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play with a dominating 15-3 win over visiting Kutztown (4-2, 0-2 PSAC).
With the win, LHU moved to 3-0 this season at home and the Bald Eagles extended their overall home winning streak to 33 straight games. The streak dates back to 2013.
McDonough was fantastic for Lock Haven and finished with four ground balls. In all, LHU forced 23 Kutztown turnovers and allowed just three goals, which included only one in the second half.
Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers) led LHU with four goals, while
Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) netted a hat trick to go along with three assists.
Dana Laulis (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) added a pair of goals and
Hayley Kilian (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) finished with three points (1G, 2A).
Hannah Houde (Jackson, N.J./Slippery Rock) made eight saves in the winning effort.
Lock Haven will head to Seton Hill for a Saturday (March 25) afternoon (3 p.m.) PSAC contest.
