SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (7-11) picked up a solid 4-1 victory in game two today, which helped the Bald Eagles split a doubleheader at Slippery Rock University (6-11).
Slippery Rock took game one, 8-0 (6 innings), but Lock Haven scored four runs on five hits in game two and won, 4-1.
In game one, Slippery Rock scored eight runs on 13 hits and pitcher Brooke Dawson threw a one-hitter.
Moriah Lindsey (Woolrich, Pa./Central Mountain) recorded LHU's lone hit and Haven pitcher
Bekah Slattery (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) struck out three.
In game two, the Bald Eagles scored four runs on five hits and got a solo home run from
Chloe Kennedy (Elkton, Md./Caravel Academy), which helped LHU win 4-1.
Lock Haven jumped out an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second and Kennedy's solo home run in the seventh gave the Bald Eagles insurance.
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) was 2 for 3 at the plate and pitcher
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) dominating from the circle, striking out seven while scattering just five hits.
LHU will host Millersville University tomorrow (Sunday, March 26) at noon in a PSAC crossover doubleheader.
