BALTIMORE, Md. – The No. 16 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (5-3) dropped a thrilling back-and-forth contest with No. 2 Lindenwood University (13-0) in neutral site action, 13-10.
The Bald Eagles got on the scoreboard first by yet another goal in the first minute of play when
Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers) scored her only goal of the game and 32
nd of the year.
LHU then got two quick goals from
Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) and
Ashley Gochenaur (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) that pushed the LHU lead to 3-0.
Going into half Lock Haven had the lead by a score of 8-7.
Hayley Kilian (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) and
Karli Gilbert (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown) led the way for The Haven offensively. Killian finished the game with two goals and two assists while Gilbert netted three goals.
Hannah Houde (Jackson, N.J./Slippery Rock Univ.) was tremendous in the net turning away 11 Lindenwood shots.
Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) chipped in with one goal as well. Both Bissnette and Engler were face-guarded all over the field by a stifling Lindenwood defense.
Lock Haven will host Edinboro on Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. in conference action.
