LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – It took about 12 minutes for the Bald Eagles' offensive unit to get rolling, but once things got going there was no stopping the No. 16 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (6-3, 3-1 PSAC), as LHU rolled by Edinboro University (1-7, 0-4 PSAC) 20-6 in conference action.
With the win, Lock Haven improved to 4-0 at home and extended its overall home-winning streak to 34 straight contests. The winning streak at Charlotte Smith Field dates back to the 2013 season. LHU is now 3-1 this season in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
The Bald Eagle got goals from nine different players and were led by the trio of
Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland),
Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers) and
Hayley Kilian (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley).
Bissnette (4G, 7A, 11pts), Kilian (1G, 6A, 7pts) & Engler (4G, 1A, 5pts) combined for 23 total points in the win.
Karli Gilbert (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown) scored four goals and
Ashley Gochenaur (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) netted a hat trick.
LHU outshot Edinboro, 35-15 and held an important 20-8 advantage in draw controls.
The Haven's defensive unit also played well. The Bald Eagles only allowed one goal in the second half and forced 12 total Edinboro turnovers. LHU goalkeeper
Hannah Houde (Jackson, N.J./Slippery Rock Univ.) picked up the win after playing the opening 30 minutes and
Lauren Marte (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) made three fines saves in the second half.
Lock Haven will host East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday, April 4 at 4 p.m.
