Box Score 2 BECKLEY, Wv. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (5-2) defeated Fairmont State (4-7) in all three games this weekend by scoring a total of 35 runs on 39 hits.

Sunday, March 5 Game 1
In game one of the doubleheader The Haven did not allow Fairmont State to get in a rhythm as LHU batted batted around in the first inning and took a 4-0 lead behind
Cayden Stover's (Beech Creek, Pa./Chesapeake College) solo home run. In the second inning Lock Haven forced a pitching change after taking an 8-0 lead. Stover then hit an RBI double down the left field line to make it 11-0 and a seven run inning.

Nick Stotler (Plum, Pa./Coker College)
Kolby Dehaas (Coeur D'Alene, Idaho/Wenatchee Valley Community College),
Jimmy Webb (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) and Stover all finished with three hits.
Â
Stotler went three for six with three RBIs, Dehaas was three for four with two RBIs, Stover was three for five and Webb went three for five with four RBIs.

Jacob Belinda (Port Matilda, Pa./Tyrone) once again dominated on the mound throwing a complete game, striking out six and surrendering only four hits.

The Bald Eagles defeated the Falcons by a score of 16-3. This marked the second straight game LHU scored 16 runs.

Sunday, March 5 Game 2
Keyshawn D'Orso (Pittsburgh/Mercyhurst North East Community College) got The Haven on the scoreboard with a monster two-run home run to left field in the fifth inning that proved to be enough to put Fairmont State down as LHU went up 2-1.

Stover then continued to step up when he needed as he hit a single that plated
Sam Kysor (Port Alleghany/USC Upstate) in the fifth.

Kysor was advanced into scoring position by a
Hunter Szaflarski (Green Castle, Pa./Hagerstown Community College) single.
Â
Zach Manuppelli (Pittsburgh/USC Upstate) was on the mound and shut down the Falcons bats as he pitched six solid innings.
Â
Breton LaRose (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Sacred Heart) then came out of the bullpen in the seventh inning to get the save (second on the season) as Lock Haven won by a final score of 3-1.

Saturday, March 4
LHU defeated Fairmont State in a nine-inning game by a final score of 16-8. This marked the first game of a three-game weekend series. Lock Haven was the home team today as the game was played on a neutral site in Beckley, West Virginia.

The Haven got on the scoreboard first and never looked back. In the bottom of the second with the bases loaded Stover reached on a fielder's choice that gave them the 2-0 lead. The eighth inning proved to be the deciding factor in the game as LHU scored eight runs highlighted by
Jamie Eshleman (Lewisberry, Pa./RedLand) who had the go ahead RBI single.Â

Sam Kysor (Port Allegany, Pa./USC Upstate) led the Bald Eagles with four RBI's. In the third inning he hit a single that plated two runs bringing the lead to 4-0. In the seventh inning Kysor again had another single bringing in another run. In following inning he was at it again as he hit another single that brought a run home and a pitching change for the Falcons.

Continuing his impressive start to the season
Nick Stotler (Pittsburgh/Coker College) hit a three run homerun in the eighth inning that capped a eight run inning for the Bald Eagles. Stotler also had an infield hit earlier in the game that plated a run.

Hunter Szaflarski (Greenchastle, Pa./Hagerstown Community College) did not let the new pitcher get in a rhythm as he belted a single that brought in two more runs for LHU to push the lead to 12-8.

Matt Lahn (Georgetown, ONT./Erie Community College),
Kolby Dehaas (Coeur D'Alene, Idaho/Wenatchee Valley Community Colelge) also continued their torrid start to the season.
Â
Lahn hit a home run in the fourth inning, then Dehaas had a RBI double in the sixth inning to bring the score to 6-3.

Mike Anthony (Audubon, Pa./North Hampton Community College) was on the mound and he did not disappoint as he had a strong eight inning performance despite the cold weather. Anthony struck out eight batters and walked zero.

The Bald Eagles entered the weekend with a 2-2 overall record after splitting a four-game series last weekend at Chowan on The Haven's 2017 season-open weekend.

Fairmont State entered the weekend 4-4 overall and had won four straight games.
Â
Last weekend at Chowan, Lock Haven hit nine home runs and the Bald Eagles are led by three players – Stotler, Lahn and Dehaas – who were all hitting .455 going into the game. Ace Belinda got the nod in game one of the season for LHU and he didn't disappoint on the way to a win.

The Bald Eagles are back in action Wednesday (March 8
th) when they travel to Johnstown, Pa. to take on Pittsburgh-Johnstown at 1 p.m. in one nine inning game.
