LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) and
Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers) combined for 15 points, and eight different Bald Eagles scored as the No. 15 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (1-0) rolled past visiting Chestnut Hill College (0-4), 18-5 in The Haven's 2017 season-opener.
LHU took control of the game early and the Bald Eagles raced out to an 8-0 lead. A huge key for Lock Haven today was its dominance in draw controls. LHU won 20 of 25 and
Alex O'Herrick (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) led the with 11 for The Haven.
Bissnette finished with eight points (4G & 4A) and Engler scored a game-high six goals, while also adding one assist. O'Herrick added a goal and two assists.
Dana Laulis (Garnet Valley, Pa./Carnet Valley) and
Katie Costanza (Denver, Pa./Cocalic) both scored twice for LHU and starting goalkeeper
Hannah Houde (Jackson, N.J./Slippery Rock Univ.) made four saves in a winning effort.
A strong LHU defensive effort caused five Chestnut Hill turnovers.
The nationally-ranked Bald Eagles will host the University of Findlay at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 11.
