LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (23-9, 11-5 PSAC East) split with Bloomsburg (19-15-1, 7-8-1 PSAC East) today at home, which helped the Bald Eagles take the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division season series 3-1 after LHU swept Bloom yesterday.
Today, LHU won the opener 10-6, before Bloomsburg took game two 14-2.
In game one, Lock Haven scored 10 runs on 13 hits and won 10-6 after the Bald Eagles broke the game open in the sixth.
With the score tied 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth,
Matt Lahn (Georgetown, ONT./Erie Community College) led off the inning with a solo home run that sparked a four-run rally, and proved to be the difference in the outcome.
Lahn had a pair of hits in game one.
Hunter Szaflarski (Greencastle, Pa./Hagerstown Community College) was 3 for 3 with a RBI and run scored, and
Jamie Eshleman (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) was 2 for 3.
The Bald Eagles got a strong pitching effort from three different players. The trio scattered six hits.
In game two, Bloomsburg got its bats going and won 14-2.
The Bald Eagles got on the board in the fifth after
Demetrius Haskins (Pittsburgh/Taylor Alderdice) doubled in a run, before
Brady Chappell (Milton, Pa./Milton) brought in a run on a sacrifice fly.
The Bald Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, April 19 (1/3 p.m.) when they travel to the Maplezone Sports Institute in Garnet Valley, Pa. to take on Lincoln.
