INDIANA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (17-17, 7-5 PSAC Central) dropped both games of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division doubleheader today at IUP (15-14, 7-5 PSAC Central), as the Crimson Hawks won 6-5 and 3-1.
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) hit a pair of home runs in game one and
Bryann Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) hit one in game two, but it wasn't enough to spark the Bald Eagles past rival-IUP.
In game one, Garlock hit a solo home run – her second homer of the game – in the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-5, but IUP found the walk-off winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Garlock finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs. She hit a two-run home run in the first to open the scoring, as both her hits today went out of the park.
Becca Caputo (Williamsport, Pa./Jersey Shore) was 2 for 4 with a RBI and run scored.
IUP took game two, 3-1.
Trailing 3-0 in the seventh, Hilty hit a pinch-hit solo-homer, as the Bald Eagles tried to rally.
Over the two-game span Lock Haven pitchers
Bekah Slattery (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) combined for 11 strikeouts.
Lock Haven will host Mansfield University on Friday, April 21 at 2:30/4:30 p.m. in PSAC Central action.
