LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (21-17, 11-5 PSAC Central) swept Pitt-Johnstown (14-20, 3-13 PSAC Central) today on Senior Day.
Lock Haven won 3-2 and 3-1 and the sweep helped the Bald Eagles cap a 4-0 weekend in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division action after yesterday's sweep of Mansfield. LHU, a winner of four straight games, is now 11-5 in PSAC Central action and now sits in second place in the standings.
Lock Haven edged UPJ, 3-2 in game one behind another stellar outing from
Bekah Slattery (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) who struck out six in a complete-game win.
McKenna Garlock (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon), 1 of 6 seniors honored between games, led the way on the offensive side, as she was 2 for 2 with a RBI and run scored.
Becca Caputo (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) was 2 for 3 with a RBI.
In game two, LHU won 3-1 behind another solid pitching outing. Senior
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) struck out five over seven innings.
Garlock was 2 for 3 and fellow senior
Michelle Holweger (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) knocked in a run.
Over the two games today, Garlock was 4 for 5 with two doubles.
LHU will host Bloomfield College on Monday (April 24) in non-conference action (3/5 p.m.).
