LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –The Lock Haven University lacrosse team (9-7, 6-5 PSAC) broke open a tightly contested Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest with visiting Millersville University (7-9, 4-7 PSAC) in the second half and cruised to an 18-7 victory.
Lock Haven led 7-3 at halftime, but the Bald Eagles scored 11 goals in the second half. In all, the Bald Eagles recorded 35 shots today.
Leading the offensive charge was
Ashley Gochenaur (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) and
Karli Gilbert (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown) who each scored four goals.
Gilbert scored three of her four goals in the second and
Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa./Rutgers) netted a second-half hat trick as the duo played a big part in LHU's strong surge in the second half.
Hayley Kilian (Ridley, Pa./Ridley Park) added a goal and five assists, while
Shannon Bissnette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) added four helpers.
LHU also turned it up on defense and the Bald Eagle defensive unit was credited with 11 caused turnovers.
The Bald Eagles will close out the 2017 regular season on Saturday (April 29) at home (1 p.m.) when they host Mercyhurst University. Saturday marks Lock Haven's 2017 Senior Day.
