Volleyball opens 2017 Season

The LHU volleyball team opened the 2017 season at the Edinboro’s Rebich Investments Invitational.

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (0-2) opened the 2017 season today at Edinboro's Rebich Investments Invitational with matches against Bellarmine and Walsh University. 
                               
The Haven dropped both matches.
 
In the first match, the Bald Eagles dropped a tough match, 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-12) to Bellarmine. 
 
Despite the loss, Veronica Morrison (Sugar Run, Pa. Wyalusing Valley) played well and finished with a team-high nine kills. Breanna McDonald (Nazareth, Pa. Nazareth) added seven. Kristen Nealon (Horsham, Pa. Archbishop Wood) paced the offense with 24 assists. Shaye Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa. Gettysburg) led The Haven with 17 digs.
 
In the second match, the Bald Eagles dropped a very competitive 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-19) match to Walsh.
 
Morrison once again led the team with 14 kills.  McDonald also played very well, recording eight kills and led the team with three aces.  Nealon once again led the team in assists, recording 36 of them, while Whiteman added 23 digs.   
 
LHU will cap play at Edinboro tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 2) with matches against Fairmont State (12:30 p.m.) and Davis & Elkins (5:30 p.m.).
