PHILADELPHIA – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (6-1, 1-0 A10) opened Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) action in dramatic fashion as
Tamia Roach (Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Joseph's Convent Port-of-Spain) scored just 3:43 into overtime, helping the Bald Eagles drop host La Salle University (3-2, 0-1 A10), 2-1 (OT).
MacKenzie Farley (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) put Lock Haven up 1-0 just 12:26 into the match.
Host-La Salle tied things up in the 27
th minute.
Lock Haven and La Salle were tied 1-1 at halftime and remained tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation which set up the dramatic overtime victory.
Roach's OT game-winner marked her second overtime game-winning strike in the last three games. With the win Lock Haven improved to 3-0 on the season in overtime contests.
For LHU, goalkeeper
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) made seven saves in another fine outing.
On Sunday, September 17, the Bald Eagles will head to No. 23 Saint Joseph's for a 12 p.m. conference match.
