SPARKILL, N.Y. – Freshman
Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown H.S.) provided the offense and finished with two goals as the Lock Haven University men's soccer team (4-1-2) battled to a 2-2 double-overtime draw at non-conference St. Thomas Aquinas College (3-2-1).
Lock Haven is unbeaten over its last three matches (2-0-1).
Shane Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens), the reigning Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Player of the Week, and
Matthew McDermott (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg H.S.) both recorded assists.
Goalkeepers
Troy Teresak (Pompton Plains, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and
Camden Cook (Rosedale, Md./High Point) both saw time for Lock Haven. Teresak got the start and made two saves in 45 minutes, while Cook made one save in 65 minutes.
In the 19
th minute, Sibiski scored his first of two goals on the day and put Lock Haven up 1-0. Colegrove was credited with the assist.
The hosts tied the match at 1-1 in the 21
st minute, but again, it was Sibiski on the mark for the Bald Eagles, and he helped LHU regain the lead at 2-1 in the 39
th minute. McDermott picked up the helper on the goal.
The Spartans tied the match at 2-2 with less than four minutes to play.
Despite two overtime periods and the extra 20 minutes of play, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
The Bald Eagles, who are unbeaten at home, return to the Stern Athletic Complex to host Slippery Rock University on Friday, September 22 at 4 p.m. in PSAC action. In the most recent United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region poll, which was announced today, Lock Haven was ranked No. 8. On the season, the Bald Eagles are 3-0-1 at home.
