LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (8-5, 1-0 PSAC) outlasted Slippery Rock (8-5, 0-1 PSAC) in the Bald Eagles Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and home opener by a score of 3-2 (31-29, 25-15, 22-25, 19-25, 18-16).
Lock Haven and Slippery Rock went back and forth all throughout the match with both teams getting excellent play from just about everyone that was on the court. The Haven just happened to make a few more plays down the stretch.
To end the game,
Gabrielle Stick (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) took a great pass from
Kristen Nealon (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and put a beautiful kill down the line that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
The Bald Eagle offense was led by Stick and her 19 kills.
Breanna McDonald (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) also had herself a day on the offensive end, tallying 16 kills of her own.
Nealon did a great job spreading the ball around for different attackers, racking up 55 assists while
Shaye Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) did a great job keeping plays alive defensively, tallying 47 digs.
Next up for the Bald Eagles is another home match on Saturday, September 23 against Edinboro. Game is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
