LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Tamia Roach (Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Joseph's Convent Port-of-Spain) and
MacKenzie Farley (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) scored in the first half and Lock Haven University field hockey team (7-4, 2-3 A-10) snapped a rare losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Davidson (0-9, 0-3) today in Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10).
The conference win was an important one for Lock Haven, who moved to 2-3 in league play.
Roach put LHU up 1-0, 4:31 into the contest when she fired home a
Tia Judy (East Prospect, Pa./Homeschooled) insert. Roach's hard shot deflected off a Davidson defender at the far post.
Farley made it 2-0 in the 24
th minute when she knocked in her own rebound after a breakaway.
Just after Lock Haven went up 2-0, Davidson got on the board and made it 2-1.
The Bald Eagles dominated the second half and tallied 12 shots in the second. Overall, LHU held a 21-8 advantage in shots.
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) led a strong defensive effort and finished with three saves.
Lock Haven will head to Cornell Sunday (Oct. 1) for a 1 p.m. non-conference match.
